Objective
|
To assess the mortality, morbidity, critical illness rate, and associated financial burdens of adult patients after surgical interventions in hospitals in Ethiopia.

All in-hospital surgical patients in all departments and wards in participating hospitals in Ethiopia.

Patient follow-up

Until hospital discharge or death, censored at 7 days after inclusion.

1. The 7-day mortality
2. 7-day in-hospital morbidity associated with surgery 3. Geospatial access to surgery 4. Catastrophic expenditure for surgery |

Statistical analysis
|
Descriptive statistics, univariate and multivariable logistic regression models. A statistical analysis plan will be written before analysis.
